Non-Profit 2% For Conservation Announces 2021 Media Award

Submission Categories Include: Film / Photo, Audio / Written, Student 

MANHATTAN, Montana (January 28, 2021) – 2% For Conservation, the 501c3 non-profit conservation certification group, is proud to announce its 2021 Conservation Media Award. The submission period for each category is currently open now through May 1, 2021.

Brought to life in 2018, 2% For Conservation’s Media Award is meant to highlight the creative individuals and organizations that generate positive action surrounding wildlife conservation. The Conservation Media Award features three categories, including: Film and Photo; Audio and Written; as well as a Student category (K-College).

“We believe that quality media and content can embolden individuals, communities, and industries to create positive action,” said 2% For Conservation Executive Director, Jared Frasier. “We’re proud to highlight and share the various impactful stories and forms of content that the greater outdoors community creates surrounding conservation.”

Entries may include themes of outdoor recreation like backpacking, hunting, and angling, but the primary focus of the content s hould focus on wildlife, ecosystems and conservation issues. 2021 Conservation Media Award entries are open to the public, as long as they meet 2% For Conservation’s guidelines listed on its website. Additionally, 2% encourages fan nominations to be made on behalf of content creators.

In addition to 2% For Conservation’s Committee Members voting, this year, the brand will invite a select group of its most active 2% Business and Individual Members to review entries. Winners of the 2021 Conservation Media Award will be announced in June 2021. 

Previous winners of the 2% For Conservation Media Award include Jason Matzinger’s “#ProjectElk” (2018), Steven Rinella’s “Stars in the Sky” (2019), Randy Newberg’s “The Dam That Never Was (2020 – Film), and Shane Mahoney’s “Conservation Matters” podcast (2020 – Audio).
